English language and study skills support
CEM students come from all over the world and some are returning to learning after a gap. We appreciate that not everybody comes to us with the same level of skills.
To ensure all our students can participate fully in their studies we provide a variety of resources on the VLE for use throughout your course.
English language support
English is the common language for all our courses. We appreciate that some students will need additional support because of this.
The VLE includes an interactive English for Academic Purposes learning resource designed to help students whose first language is not English. It’s an independent study programme that can be accessed at any time if you’re are having difficulty with a particular area of English.
To help you understand written and spoken English there is also a popular learning resource called ‘Get it Write’.
Maths support
Your maths skills may need polishing in some areas, particularly if you’re returning to learning. The VLE gives you access to a series of video tutorials, diagnostic tests, summary text and exercises on more than 80 maths topics.
Academic referencing
Throughout your studies you will need to ensure that you do not inadvertently take credit for someone else’s work. To help you with this we provide an online resource to ensure that your documents are correctly referenced.
matrix Standard
| The CEM Academic Support Team has been accredited with the matrix Standard, the unique quality framework for the effective delivery of information, advice and/or guidance on learning and work. |
