Contaminated land regime

During the course of the 1990s there was much discussion about the proposed contaminated land regime, which came into force on 1 April 2000. Local authorities have begun implementing the legislation and sites are being registered as being contaminated land including residential properties. The regime therefore poses challenges for all aspects of the property life cycle and the role of the surveyor is pivotal in this process.
