Why choose CEM research?

Outstanding reputation and credentials

As a long-established institution at the heart of the real estate and construction professions, CEM commands respect throughout the industry and is a name you can trust to deliver high quality independent research.

We have strong links to the major professional bodies and real estate and construction firms and rich experience of building research partnerships with UK and overseas organisations to help shape tomorrow’s world.

Proven track record

Satisfied clients and sponsors from across the real estate and construction industry have benefited from CEM’s extensive record in ground-breaking and influential research and thought leadership over more than three decades.

CEM research commissioned by the UK Government has, for example, informed policy such as commonhold and leasehold reform and right-to-buy legislation.

Global student and alumni research base

You can benefit from access to a unique ‘captive audience’ through CEM’s vast professional learning clientele around the world. We maintain an ongoing dialogue with our alumni and students to canvass their views and gain a unique perspective on actual experience around the world. This adds value to our findings and allows us to road test research, particularly where international comparisons are required.

Breadth of expertise

The quality of our work is based not only on the research skills and practice-based experience of CEM’s research team, but by drawing on our extensive network of real estate and construction experts.

We can involve members of our academic staff who cover almost every real estate and construction discipline, mobilise project steering groups and working parties where appropriate, and exploit close links with other property organisations and academic institutions. This provides greater depth of analysis to our research.

Professional approach

You can be assured of a businesslike approach to research projects at CEM to ensure successful delivery on time, on brief and to a consistently high standard.

Research commissions are carefully assessed, planned and resourced. We use well-tested review and quality controls, along with steering groups of appropriate specialists to ensure research projects are relevant, focused and evidenced-based.

Range of research skills

We’ll use the latest in evidenced-based techniques in our research for you. Our research team’s experience ticks all the right boxes - qualitative and quantitative research strategies, primary data collection, cross-national comparative research, problem solving, and high quality report writing.

CEM research is enriched by interactive online tools to engage with property professionals and our global student body, such as web-based surveys, debates and blog forums and by continuous development of new research methods.

Dissemination of findings

To ensure our research partners have a voice on key real estae and construction issues, we work with them to ensure that research is disseminated widely through published reports, conference papers, academic articles in real estate and construction journals, via our website and in the real estate and construction press. We also publish some of the research carried out by our academic staff in our ‘Occasional Papers’ series. Research findings are used to inform our extensive range of distance learning courses, providing exposure to a huge student audience.

Alternatively, from time to time, we undertake confidential projects of a commercially sensitive nature.
