CEM local network launches in Cyprus

Mr Rick Yianni, a CEM alumnus, has been appointed leader of the College’s new local network in Cyprus. Celebrating the local network launch, Mrs Sandie Lee, CEM’s Head of Product Development, hosted a networking evening in Limassol on 23 May. As a contact point for CEM students and alumni in Cyprus, Rick will also organise a local programme of CPD and social events.
CEM Principal presents RICS South East Awards

CEM Principal Ann Heywood was a member of the judging panel for the RICS South East Awards 2013 and attended the awards ceremony at Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking on 16th May. Ann presented the awards to the winners in the Tourism and Leisure category, including the overall category winner, the New Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury.

College celebrates independence with first ‘home grown’ degrees

The College of Estate Management is set to offer its first self-validated BSc programmes after being granted degree awarding powers.
CEM, based in Reading, provides supported distance learning for people in the property and construction industries worldwide. Each year it enrols thousands of students in the UK, Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, the Gulf region and the Far East.
From January this year, CEM was granted Taught Degree Awarding Powers by the UK’s Privy Council, putting the College on a par with universities for the first time. It is the first not-for-profit, solely distance learning institution to gain this coveted status.

Does the past have a future?
How do we ensure a future for our past in a time of austerity? This question was explored by English Heritage Commissioner Jane Kennedy, at the College of Estate Management’s annual Alumni CPD Lecture and Networking Event.
This event on February 14 at the Carpenters’ Hall, London, was attended by around 90 guests, including College alumni and students. As well as giving guests a chance to network and to find out more about CEM’s courses, it also offered two fascinating talks and presentations on conservation and our built heritage.
