Welcome to CEM. We’re dedicated to helping professionals working in the real estate and construction industries achieve career success through supported distance learning. No other institution can match us in the range and quality of specialist courses that we offer to the profession.

In 2009, we are proudly celebrating our 90th year as the leading provider of practical distance learning for real estate and construction professionals.

Accessible to all

Our unrivalled expertise has helped tens of thousands of former students to get where they are in their careers today. They come from all levels of the profession and a wide range of academic backgrounds. Our alumni include some leading lights in the property world and high-flyers in government, property administration and private practice around the world.

We are expanding further into Eastern Europe, India and China, building on our traditional strongholds of Hong Kong and the Emirates.

With the real estate and construction industry facing serious challenges, now is a good time to learn new skills to be ready to take advantage of the eventual upturn. I understand the challenges of finding the time to study while juggling work and family commitments and we do everything we can to make your learning experience as accessible and beneficial to you as possible.

By investing in our student support services, we make sure pastoral assistance is available where needed. UK and international students who need help financing or completing their chosen course may be able to benefit from our £2m bursary scheme.

Advances in learning

Technological advances mean there has never been a better time to continue your education through distance learning. We’re always exploring alternative media and new, interactive ways to learn. We’re investing £4m to enhance our teaching resources and techniques through our online Virtual Learning Environment.

We also aim to spread the latest thinking on sustainable development through the industry.

While we are an independent organisation, we have a close relationship with the University of Reading, which validates our BSc and Master’s programmes. Our courses are accredited by a range of professional bodies, including RICS, HKIS, CIOB and BIFM.

CEM has uniquely close links with major real estate and construction firms, where many of our students enjoy successful careers. Several of these firms entrust us with the development of their staff, from trainees to senior management level, to keep pace with this fast-changing world.
