Royal celebration for the College of Estate Management
The College of Estate Management celebrated its 90th anniversary at a reception on May 4 at Clarence House, hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales.
The event marked the college’s work in providing the skills for sustainable development that will be essential for the transformation to a low carbon economy in the UK and around the world.
HRH The Prince of Wales, who is patron of the college, met around 90 college staff, college alumnus and guests.
Dr Ann Heywood, CEM’s principal, said: “I wish to thank HRH The Prince of Wales for his hospitality in hosting this reception and for his continuing patronage. In our 90th anniversary year the property sector faces a challenge that was inconceivable when the college was founded in 1919. The environment has become the prime industry issue. Property professionals are now working hard to reduce the massive contribution to global carbon emissions from buildings, and we hope to celebrate their progress in fighting climate change in the college’s centenary year in 2020.”
